the question is ( write a breif analysis on the following stanza...)
poet / sir thomas wyatt
poem / the long love
analysis
the first 4 lines of this poem are quite clearly emphasized. wyatt feels an enduring love 4 someone and this love is unquestionably felt through realization in his mind . it is almost as if he has deducted logically how he feels and he is sure that he feels love 4 a special someone.
moreover, this love holds a special place in his heart , which is revealed in the second line . this love is so strong that is consistently and boldly ''in his face'' and this love is ''spreading his banner '' which could signify that the love is ready to '' stand up'' and '' show itself'' .
what i found a bit interesting , yet slightly confusing, is that '' love '' it seemed to me , is seen in a male context because in line 4 it says , '' spreading his banner '' .
in the second stanza , or lines 5 through 8 , wyatt is referring to the love as being a learning experience for it teaches him both the highs *love* and the lows * suffering* .
it is through his object of affection that he learns these qualities and he also feels that she wills his trust and lust's carelessness will be checked or thought over by ''reason , shame and reverence ''.
i took this to mean that his love is keeping him ''straight '' and '' in his place '' and that if any second thoughts were to cross his mind , or opportunities arise , that he would think twice about his situations .
therefore , i felt as though this love is truer than just puppy love because true love shows loyalty .
the last line of the second stanza i saw as referring to any of the above boldness or '' hardiness '' as he says , will not be taken lightly and will be dismissed as soon as it arrives ....
the analogy in the third stanza of the '' distractions '' being pushed away , was quite interesting , for he likens the '' pushing away '' of these distractions to be pushed into forest .
moreover, these lustful distractions shall hide themselves there and not appear for the shame would be too great to bear ............
finally , the poem ends with a question and answer stanza . '' what may i do when my master fearth ....... die '' . i figure it meant you have to choose your choices wisely and the answer to the question ..is ..'' for good is the life , ending faithfully '' , is the conclusion referring to the fact that staying faithful and being true to your love is the best destiny of all .............
